Nowadays online gambling has taken a serious form. As our young generation has smartphones in their hands, they easily fall into this terrible trap. Once this game was in the cities but now with the availability of smartphones and internet it is seen among the young generation in remote rural areas. Online gambling is becoming a big threat to our future generation.

People of different age groups, especially students and young people, are getting addicted to this gambling due to the temptation of more income in a short period of time. Many of them lost everything due to gambling addiction. Because of this, family turmoil and marital discord are increasing. Many people of different ages including school-college students are getting involved in this gambling due to the temptation to earn a lot of money easily. Many of the youngsters start this game out of curiosity but later end up getting addicted. After making a profit, you lose thousands of rupees later.

Talking to some people involved in online gambling, it is known that gambling can be played by downloading certain apps on smartphones. About 20 to 25 apps with different names are used for most gambling. These apps can be started with any amount of money starting from 10 taka.

Most of these apps are operated from Russia, Malaysia and Indonesia. They have local representatives (agents) in Bangladesh. Almost every market in the country has such agents. They receive or pay money from gambling participants through mobile banking. Agents get a minimum commission of Rs 40 per thousand from foreign app operators. Money is laundered abroad through agents. Crores of money from gambling investments are being smuggled abroad.

Recently, many young people, laborers, and employees are indulging in online gambling in different areas of Nalchiti Upazila. Some are so addicted that the distance between family and society is increasing and family conflict is increasing. Along with losing money, he tends to get addicted to drugs to relieve stress and depression. Which can take the form of a terrible criminal empire like a teenage gang.

Online gambling sessions are held at different corners of the upazila. Especially in the afternoon, sitting side by side, friends are playing these sports very attentively on their mobile phones.

Various areas of the upazila include launch ghat, bypass junction, Taltala with Kalbari, Nachanmahal, Hadua, Bhabanipur, Baranir Par, Kulkathi, Manpasha, Taltala road junction, Khejurtala, Takbazar, Shimultala, Akharpara, Siddhakathi, Chandrakanda, Kairchar, etc. Professionals involved in online gambling.

An anonymous college student in Subidpur of the upazila said that he heard that money can be earned by gambling on the 1xbet app. According to that, we friends opened the ID and filled 500 taka and gambled after a while that money was lost. In this way, I lost 15-20 thousand taka by getting addicted to online gambling.

A municipal employee lost lakhs of taka after getting addicted to online gambling in hopes of extra income. He gambled with the loan money and was unable to pay the loan money. He left the private job and left the area.

Moreover, more than half a hundred day laborers are constantly playing online gambling hoping to win some 50,000, some 30,000, some 20,000, some 5,000. However, in most of the village markets, the shopkeepers indulge in Ludo by betting during their idle hours.

An unnamed upazila mason earns a living by working. Lost 40 thousand rupees in a few months hoping for online gambling income. He is playing online gambling desperately to withdraw money.

Moreover, various markets of the upazila were seen roaming around, especially at noon, auto, Mahendra drivers and workers of various professions are playing tass (cards), Ludu and other sports in the open. Many people think that young people and school college students are getting more encouragement after seeing this. Conscious people demand that the law enforcement agencies of the government should play an effective role in these closures. Otherwise these activities may help to increase the tendency of crime and criminals in the society.

Young unemployed youth are gambling online gambling to withdraw that money again. Conscious citizens feel that robbery, robbery and various crime trends may increase by being forced to collect this gambling money.

Nalchiti Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ah Salam said in this regard. Gambling is a legally punishable offence. We will take necessary legal action in this regard.
