World Tuberculosis Day celebrated in Cox’s Bazar with various events

With the theme ‘Building a TB-free Bangladesh will be possible through commitment, investment and service,’ World Tuberculosis Day was celebrated in Cox’s Bazar with various events. On this occasion, rallies, discussion meetings and policy dialogues were organized with great enthusiasm at the initiative of the District Health Department.

In the morning, the rally, led by Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammadul Haque, circumambulated the important roads of the city from the premises of the Chest Disease Hospital. After the rally, a discussion meeting was held at the Yusuf Conference Room of the District Sadar Hospital and a policy dialogue was held at the District EPI Conference Room at separate times. The discussion meeting and policy dialogue were chaired by Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahmudul Haque, and Cox’s Bazar Medical College Principal Professor Dr. Sohel Baks was present as the chief guest. In his speech as the chief guest, Dr. Sohel Baks said that only our awareness and everyone’s sincerity can completely eradicate tuberculosis. Dr. Mong Ting Ngo, Superintendent of the 250-bed District Sadar Hospital, Dr. Shahjahan Nazir, Assistant Professor (Tropical Medicine) of Cox’s Bazar Medical College, and Dr. Mohiuddin Mohammad Alamgir, Consultant of the Chest Disease Clinic, were present as special guests. The speakers discussed the important issue of tuberculosis situation, declared solidarity with the theme of ensuring rapid testing according to the symptoms of tuberculosis and free treatment through DOTS by the government. Dr. Shah Fahim Ahmed Faisal presented the presentation while Dr. Anup Dhar, District Surveillance Medical Officer, gave a brief presentation on the tuberculosis situation in the district.
