Workshop on political initiatives to eliminate disinterest in politics in Noakhali

Why are young people becoming disinterested in politics in the current political context of Bangladesh? What initiatives can political parties take to overcome this crisis? What do young people do in this regard? What should the parties do in the inclusion of youth and women in the political party? What kind of social, family, economic, employment, security problems do the women and youth of Noakhali have? And are there specific recommendations for how to identify and resolve it? Keeping these issues in mind, 2 young political fellows from Noakhali district of the 24th batch of the Young Leader Fellowship Program of the Strengthening Political Landscape in Bangladesh (SPL) project implemented by Democracy International, funded by USAID, Abul Hasnat Adnan and Shah Mohammad, members of Bangladesh Awami League and Nationalist Nationalist Party (BNP) respectively. Organized by Emran, 15th July was held at Maizdi Nice Guest House Conference Hall in Noakhali.

Where a session is conducted on various topics of transition from youth students and women to disinterest in politics. Divided into 3 teams, the young women presented their issues in front of the political leaders. A total of 25 young students and women including members of Noakhali Science and Technology University, Noakhali Government College and various social organizations participated in the workshop. Based on everyone’s opinion, a plan is drawn up on what steps political parties can take to encourage youth in party activities in the future. 25 young women participated in the workshop which started from 10 am. There, the youth presented various issues including recommendations to political parties to create an epistemological political environment free of muscle power, gangs and drugs. Former Vice President of District Awami League Abutaher, Municipal Awami League General Secretary Mithun Bhatt, District BNP Joint General Secretary Liaquat Ali Khan, Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary VP Jasim Uddin, District Women Awami League President and Sadar Upazila Women Vice Chairman were present as panelists in the workshop. Nilufa Momin and President Jatiyatavadi Mahila Dal VP Shahnaz Parveen Noakhali Press Club Joint-General Secretary Akbar Hossain Sohag, Press Club Executive Committee Member Abdul Motaleb Babul and others.
