A workshop on marine economy development and climate justice was held in Cox’s Bazar. The workshop was organized by the Community Development Center (CODEC), a non-governmental organization, at the conference room of a local hotel in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday (February 19) afternoon. Theworkshop called on everyone to work together to protect the environment of Cox’s Bazar and to utilize the huge potential of the blue economy in Bangladesh.The chief guest at the workshop was former Chief Conservator of Forests and environmental expert Ishtiaq Uddin Ahmed. The special guest was Head of Climate Justice Oxfam Dr. Md. Imran Hasan. Deputy Director of the Department of Environment Zamir Uddin, Assistant Conservator of Forests Md. Monirul Islam and Prantosh Roy.Under the direction of Project Manager Sohrab Hossain, the program manager of CODE, Kazi Nahid Alam, journalist Mahbubur Rahman, project director of CODE Archana Pal and others spoke. The workshop expressed the view that to save the tourist district of Cox’s Bazar and improve the quality of life, green forests should be created by avoiding harmful fuels.
In addition, the workshop discussed responsible use of forest resources, ecosystem restoration, and restoring biodiversity in coastal forests.
