Officers, employees and service recipients of the Nakla Upazila Election Officer’s office have observed a work stoppage and human chain program at the initiative of the Bangladesh Election Commission Officers’ Association in Nakla, Sherpur over the NID database being under the Election Commission. The two-hour work stoppage and human chain was held in front of the Upazila Election Officer’s office from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday, March 13.
Upazila Election Officer Jinnat Ara, Assistant Upazila Election Officer Partha Pratim Dey, service recipient Shahidul Islam and others spoke at the human chain.
The speakers at the human chain said that this NID database is the result of the tireless work of all levels of the Election Commission officers and employees since 2007. We do not want this database, which is equivalent to our children, to go under the control of any other organization.
