A wife of an expatriate named Ripa (35) committed suicide in Goalanda, Rajbari over her husband’s displeasure.
The incident took place on Saturday (April 26) afternoon in Juran Mollar Para of Ward No. 4 of Goalanda Municipality.
According to family sources, Ripa was found with a veil wrapped around her neck in the bathroom of the rented house of Nurul Alam Milon of the municipality.
The deceased Ripa is a resident of Ward No. 9 of Ujanchar Union of Goalanda Upazila and the wife of Lutfar Rahman, a Dubai expatriate, and the daughter of Abdur Rahim Mollah alias Rahim Bidiyar of Matubbar Para of Tamas, South Daulatdia.
Her husband Lutfar Rahman found Ripa hanging in the bathroom of the rented house and quickly took her to the Goalanda Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty there, Dr. Nur Alam Sajal, said that Ripa was brought to the hospital at around 5:45 pm. However, she died before reaching the hospital.
Goalanda Ghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Rakibul Islam said that after receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the body. After preparing the post-mortem report, preparations are underway to send the body to Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Further legal proceedings are underway in this incident.
