WhatsOn hosted a unique award function to recognise the exceptional contributions of young artists, musicians, students, and business leaders. The WhatsOn Awards Party 2025 is firmly established as an annual event that took off live in Dhaka. The event aimed to recognise and celebrate the achievements of young artists, musicians, students, and business leaders. It was held at the WhatsOn Academy in Uttara, Dhaka, on Friday, 3 January.
The main purpose of the award function was to inspire young artists of Bangla origin from Bangladesh, India, and the Global Diaspora. WhatsOn believes that it is crucial to inspire the new generation to preserve and promote Bengali arts and music. For nearly 30 years, WhatsOn has been working internationally, promoting young talents around the world. The Bangladesh Government was represented by Mr. Jamal Naser Khan, Ministry of Youth & Sport, and Mr. Shajahan, Ministry of Welfare. Thanking WhatsOn, Mr. Khan said, “Initiatives like this play a vital role in developing young talent.”
The notable award winners included Shibu, who received the Best New Generation Artist Award. He is a young Bangladeshi singer and composer known for blending traditional Bengali melodies with modern sounds. He earned the award for his popular song ‘Kono Ek Raate.’ Sayeem Joy, a talented singer-songwriter from Bangladesh, won the Best Song Award for his popular song ‘Khub Mone Pore.’ His other hit tracks, including ‘Ei Mon,’ ‘Ki Bishonno,’ ‘Ami Tomay Khuji,’ and ‘Nona Dewal,’ have also captured the hearts of audiences. The Best Album Award was presented to Rodoshi, a young singer-songwriter, for her debut album ‘Onubhutir Aloron.’ She is well-loved for songs such as ‘Kather Projapoti,’ ‘Shubhojatra,’ and ‘E Shohore.’
The Best Band Award was given to the band Philosophers for their creativity, meaningful lyrics, and captivating melodies. Their progressive lyrics and musical skills have brought a fresh dimension to Bengali music. Shahidullah Farazi was honoured with the Best Legend Award for his lifetime of work in the music industry. Known for his life-inspired Bengali songs, he has won the hearts of listeners for over four decades, with his poignant music gaining significant popularity in films and albums.
In the business category, the Best Language Centre Award went to Great Wall Language Centre, the Best Salon Award was given to Sohail’s Razor, the Best Health Care Award was awarded to Diganta Health Care, and the Best Export-Import Business Award was presented to Grainica Inc.
The evening featured a grand award ceremony with WhatsOn Awards Trophies & mCertificates, a dinner, and live music performances from renowned artists and the WhatsOn Choir. Sam Alim, Managing Director of WhatsOn, said, “It is a privilege to provide a platform to a new generation of change-maker artists. Thanks to everybody for making WhatsOn Awards a huge success.”
