Our government gives utmost importance to education. ‘ At this time, the Prime Minister highlighted the various steps taken by the Awami League government in the field of education. Sheikh Hasina said, we have established 23 public universities and 54 private universities since 2009. These include specialized universities like Agriculture, Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Science and Technology, Medical, Digital, Islamic-Arabic, Textile, Maritime, Aviation and Aerospace, Private Fashion and Technology Universities. We are setting up technical training centers in every upazila. He advised the students to focus on learning instead of chasing after money. The Prime Minister said, ‘No wealth will be useful, one thing will be useful and that is education. ‘ He said, “Me and my younger sister Rehana could not finish studying. Since our childhood, our father has been in jail repeatedly, we also have learning disabilities. In 1975, I was studying for masters, Rehana was studying intermediate in girls college, I took her with me to London, I could not return. I could not finish my studies. After that, I received many honorary degrees, which are no longer the main study. ‘ Addressing the fellows, the Prime Minister said, ‘We have provided opportunities for higher education. They should keep in mind what they will give to the country when they come back, how much they can give or can give. ‘ At this time, he urged to prepare ahead of the fourth industrial revolution. He said, ‘The fourth industrial revolution will come, so we need to develop skilled manpower. Bangladesh will move forward on an equal footing with the world, we will not lag behind in any way, that is our goal. ‘ The prime minister claimed that Bangladesh has progressed in all aspects during the 14-year rule of the Awami League government. He said, ‘Look at what was there then, what has changed so far, what we have been able to do in education. I was able to do this because I have to know and feel my own country. You have to learn from nature, if you develop with the knowledge from the natural environment, it will be mass-oriented, something for people. ‘ State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain, Chief Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Tofazzal Hossain also spoke on the occasion. In the event, 48 students were given fellowships. 38 Master’s and 10 PhD fellowships were awarded to obtain degrees from world’s leading universities.
