Professor Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser to the interim government, has said that ousted dictator Sheikh Hasina’s aides are spending huge amounts of money to create chaos and spreading misinformation.

“We must always be vigilant. Everyone must fight this misinformation,” he said.

The chief adviser directed the security forces’ chiefs to be vigilant against any attempt to disrupt the law and order situation.

He gave the directive at a high-level meeting with top security officials at the state guest house Jamuna on Monday (February 3).
“We must be vigilant as if we are in a war situation. This year is very important for the country. No one can be allowed to create anarchy,” said Professor Yunus.

He directed the security forces to take special measures to protect the human rights of citizens as well as prevent any attacks against religious and ethnic minorities.

“If we fail to protect our religious minorities, our global image will be severely damaged. We have to be very transparent about this,” he said.
The chief advisor has directed the police to launch a strict crackdown on extortionists so that the prices of essential commodities remain stable for Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan.
