Vegetables and fish sold at exorbitant prices in Amtali market

In Barguna’s Amtali raw market, the prices of all the goods seem to have caught fire. Instead of relief from the high price of vegetables, the upazila residents are now looking forward to the raw market.

Various markets of the upazila can be seen on Sunday, according to the criteria, eggplant is Tk 120 to 150 per kg, bitter gourd is Tk 120, kankarol is Tk 120, potal is Tk. Cabbage is being sold at Tk 80 to Tk 100, radish at Tk 80 to Tk 100 and beans at Tk 250 to Tk 280. And 160 to 220 taka per kg of tomatoes. Among these, the prices of beans, tomatoes, cauliflower have decreased by 20 to 30 rupees per kg. The price of brinjal has increased by at least 10 rupees per kg.

Apart from this, sweet pumpkin is being sold at Tk 70 to Tk 80, papaya at Tk 30 to Tk 50, cucumber at Tk 80, potato at Tk 45 to Tk 60, gourd at Tk 60, chichinga at Tk 80, dhundul at Tk 70. Green chillies and coriander leaves were sold at Tk 300 to Tk 350.
Among the vegetables, green leafy greens are sold at Tk 50 to Tk 60, Puishak Tk 50, Laushak Tk 50, Dantashak Tk 20, Banana Mocha Tk 60 per piece, Kachushak Tk 25, Kalmi greens are sold at Tk 10 to Tk 15.

Pangas and tilapia, known as cheap fish in the market, are also being sold at Tk 180 to Tk 220 per kg. Tilapia 170 to 220 taka, roe 250 to 300 taka, besides, shrimp 800 to 900 taka depending on size, lobster small 1000, medium 1200 and large 1500 taka. Cultivated koi fish is selling at Tk 280, Coral Tk 700 to Tk 750, Tengra Tk 550 to Tk 750, Catal fish Tk 340 to Tk 350, Ai fish Tk 800 and Horn fish Tk 700 per kg.

Bajau broiler chicken has increased by 10 taka to 200 taka per kg, golden chicken has increased from 300 to 320 taka, domestic chicken has increased by 10 taka to 550 taka per kg, beef has been sold at 750 taka, goat meat has been sold at 1000 taka.

In the grocery store, daily consumables small lentil dal 135 taka, thick lentil dal 110 taka, big mung dal 140 taka, small mung dal 170 taka, kesari dal 110 taka, chickpea 130 taka.

Bottled soybean oil is sold at Tk 167 per liter, open soybean oil at Tk 153, packaged sugar at Tk 135, open sugar at Tk 140, two kg flour packet at Tk 150, flour at two kg packet at Tk 115, open mustard oil at Tk 190 per liter.

Besides, chicken eggs are being sold at 170 taka per dozen. Besides, duck eggs are being sold at 220 taka per dozen.

A buyer named Hasan said, We are middle income people. Our situation can be understood when doing the market. There is no vegetable below 80/100 rupees in the market. Vegetables are being sold at very high prices. There is no aim to reduce prices, but everything is increasing.
Talking to retailers, dealers, wholesalers, it is known that they sell the way they buy.

Amtali Upazila Nirbahi Officer and mobile court judge Mo Ashraful Alam said on the phone that strict legal measures will be taken against the traders who sell goods at excessive prices through the mobile court.
