US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu has arrived in Dhaka. The flight carrying Donald Lu from Delhi landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 3:30 pm on Saturday (September 14).
Earlier in the morning, US Treasury Assistant Under Secretary Brent Neyman arrived in Dhaka. He is leading the visiting delegation.
In addition to Neiman-Lew, the delegation includes representatives from the US Department of the Treasury, USAID and the US Trade Representative Office.
Regarding the visit of the US delegation, Foreign Secretary Md. Jasim Uddin said that the US delegation is coming to Dhaka after the interim government takes over. This is a great reflection of the importance that the United States attaches to its relationship with Bangladesh. Their discussion with us will be multidimensional. It will not be limited to just one subject. That is how we are preparing from our side.
It is known that what role the United States can play in achieving economic growth, establishing financial stability and meeting development needs in Bangladesh will be discussed in these meetings.
On Sunday (September 15), the chief adviser of the interim government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Foreign Advisor Md Tauhid Hossain, Finance and Trade Advisor Dr Salehuddin Ahmed and Foreign Secretary Md Jasim Uddin will have a meeting with the US representatives. The delegation is scheduled to leave Dhaka on September 16.
According to the US State Department, during the visit, Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu will reiterate the US commitment to strengthen economic growth and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
