An illegal brick kiln has been demolished by the upazila administration in Ward No. 9 of Naluabagi, Golkhali Union, Galachipa Upazila, Patuakhali.
On March 11 at 1 pm, in an initiative to remove illegal brick kilns like the rest of the country, Galachipa Upazila Administration Executive Officer Mizanur Rahman demolished an illegal brick kiln in the Naluabagi area.
According to the relevant sources, the BBC brick kiln is jointly owned by Ershad Molla, Bashir Talukder Mujibar Gazi and Monir Dhali. They have been operating the brick kiln illegally for many years and do not have any clearance from any environmental department. This is destroying the environment of the area and as there is an educational institution next to the brick kiln, it is difficult for the school students to breathe. On the other hand, bricks are burned in various brick kilns by clearing forests with wood. Where coal is supposed to be burned, they use wood in the brick kiln. 3 lakh bricks have been burned in the brick kiln. In addition, 2 lakh bricks have not been burned. The administration broke the raw bricks and crushed them with tin tongs. However, it is known that the upazila administration has not fined them. In this regard, Upazila Executive Officer Mizanur Rahman said that legal action will be taken against illegal brick kilns wherever they are in this upazila and this campaign will continue.
