Staff Reporter : We achieved independence in exchange for the blood of three million martyrs. Therefore, the Paba Upazila administration has started all the formalities of the day with a blood donation program in the first hour of Independence Day. Upazila Executive Officer Md. Sohrab Hossain inaugurated the blood donation program at the Upazila Parishad premises at 9:30 am on Monday (December 16). At this time, he himself inaugurated the blood donation and blood group determination programs by donating blood.

In this regard, Upazila Executive Officer Md. Sohrab Hossain said, ‘We achieved independence in exchange for the blood of three million martyrs. Therefore, in the first hour of Independence Day, we started the day’s program by firing 31 cannons and paying tribute to the martyrs and observing 1 minute of silence. In the second stage, we started all the formalities of the day with hoisting the national flag with due dignity and a blood donation program. During the Liberation War, the brave freedom fighters of this country poured their fresh blood for the country and the people of the country. We did not have that opportunity. Every year many people die in Bangladesh without getting blood. Our hope is that no one should die without getting blood. To implement that goal, programs like the blood donation program are being added. Our hope is that all those who are able to donate blood, motivated by human service, will be encouraged to donate blood voluntarily through this.’

He also said, ‘To celebrate the Great Victory Day with due dignity and solemnity, a reception for the brave freedom fighters and a fair of arts and crafts with small and medium entrepreneurs have been organized.’

Present on the occasion were Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Zahid Hasan, brave freedom fighters, Chairman of Hargram Union Parishad Professor Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Resident Medical Officer of Upazila Health Complex Dr. Khadija, Deputy Assistant Community Medical Officer Md. Mominul Islam, Marketing In-charge of Islami Bank Medical College Hospital Rezaul Islam and officials of various departments of the Upazila administration.
