A tragic incident occurred in Dumki, Patuakhali, where a pregnant woman lost her unborn child after being kicked in the abdomen during a dispute over land. The woman was assaulted while trying to stop the rival party from digging soil on disputed land.
The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon in Dumki village of Ward No. 2, Sreerampur Union, under Dumki upazila.
According to local sources, a land dispute had been ongoing between the families of Jamal Mia and Kamal Mia (sons of Chan Mia) and their neighbors Biplob Akon and Bashir Akon. When Kamal Mia tried to stop the opposing party from digging soil on the disputed land, he was physically assaulted. As Kamal’s pregnant wife Ruma Begum intervened to protect her husband, Bashir Akon’s wife Kochi Akter attacked her with punches, kicks, and threw her to the ground.
Neighbors and family members rushed to the scene and brought Ruma Begum back home.
