It has been alleged that a farmer named Ismail Hossain (47) committed suicide by hanging himself because he could not pay the loan installments.

The incident took place in the area of the victim’s father-in-law’s house in Kamdya village of Kandirpar union of Laksam upazila on Tuesday night. After receiving the information, police went to the spot on Wednesday morning and recovered the body.

The deceased Ismail Hossain is the son of Ibrahim Mia of Bakai Dakshin Union Kaitra village of the same upazila. He is the father of one daughter and three sons, said SI Anwar Hossain of Laksam police station.

According to local and police sources, Ismail Hossain came to visit his father-in-law’s Kamdya village with his wife Nasima Begum in his native Kaitra village on Tuesday. That night, after eating and drinking, the husband and wife fell asleep. In the early morning, the wife woke up in the bedroom and found her husband Ismail Hossain hanging in the kitchen. At that time, the resident of the area came and informed the police on the wife’s self-scream.

Nasima Begum, the wife of the deceased said, that day around 5 o’clock in the night, not seeing her husband, she called outside the house. Not getting a response from him, I went to the kitchen and saw Lylon lying with the ghost of the house with a rope hanging around his neck. He was in debt for a long time. He was depressed for a long time due to debt. Unable to pay regular loan installments, he committed suicide due to stress.

Laxam Police Station (OC) Abdullah Al Mahfuz said at night, the farmer’s body was recovered from the scene on Wednesday morning and sent to Comilla Medical Hospital morgue for autopsy. A case of wrongful death has been registered in the police station.
