Two motorcyclists named Limon Bepari (21) and Nayan (18) were killed when a sand drum truck hit them in Shibchar, Madaripur.
The accident occurred near the proposed army oil pump in Purba Sanyasirchar area of the upazila on Saturday (February 15) night.
The deceased Limon Bepari is the son of Nur Mohammad Bepari of Thengamara village of Dwitkhand union of the upazila, and the deceased Nayan is the son of Rustom Howlader of Bakharerkandi area of Madbarerchar union. Both of them worked at a motorcycle garage in Suryanagar Bazar of Daopara union.
According to police and local sources, Limon and Nayan were returning home on their motorcycles after closing the garage on Saturday night. Meanwhile, a drum truck coming from the opposite direction hit the motorcycle in the Purba Sanyasirchar area of the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in Shibchar, killing the motorcycle driver Limon Bepari on the spot and seriously injuring Nayan, who was behind him. Later, Nayan also died on the way to Dhaka for better treatment.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibchar Highway Police Station Zahirul Islam said that one person died on the spot in the road accident and another died on the way to Dhaka. The drum truck has been seized.
