Md. Aman Ullah:

The BGB has recovered two lakh yaba pills during a drive along the Naf River border in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. The drive was carried out in the Alikhali area of Hnila Union in Teknaf Upazila on the Naf River on Tuesday morning, said Lieutenant Colonel Md. Ashikur Rahman, commander of BGB’s Teknaf 2nd Battalion. However, it was not possible to arrest anyone as the smugglers fled, he said.

Lt. Colonel Ashikur Rahman said that a BGB team conducted a drive in the morning on the basis of information about a large consignment of drugs being smuggled from Myanmar through the Alikhali border point in Hnila Union in Teknaf on the Naf River. At one point, BGB members saw two suspicious people swimming across the zero line of the Naf River and coming towards the shore. Sensing the presence of BGB members, the men threw the two sacks they were carrying into the water and fled inside Myanmar waters. Later, a search was conducted at the spot and two specially wrapped plastic sacks left by the smugglers were recovered. When the two sacks were opened, 200,000 yaba pills were found. The recovered yaba pills have been kept at the BGB battalion headquarters, said the BGB official.
