Traffic police has started working on some roads in Dhaka: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mo Moinul Islam said that the traffic policemen have started performing duties on some roads in the capital Dhaka. They will gradually start working on all the roads of Dhaka.

He said this in response to reporters’ questions at Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital on Sunday afternoon. The IGP said, “We do not have a problem of manpower in traffic. Meanwhile, traffic policemen have started working from Intercontinental Signal to Jahangir Gate. Many traffic policemen are working in these places. Traffic policemen will gradually start working on all the roads.

He said, ‘Students, BNCC and Scout members are also present on these roads. We are in touch with the student coordinators so that there is no misunderstanding between the students and the traffic policemen.

Earlier, Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain, Advisor to the Interim Government’s Ministry of Home Affairs, said, ‘All the students who are doing traffic work on the road will be given a certificate by the police. This certificate should be evaluated in the field of employment.

He said, ‘I will request the IGP to list the students who are working on the road traffic and give certificates to all of them from the police.
