Tomorrow is ‘Shaheed Noor Hussain Day’. On this day in 1987, Noor Hossain was martyred in the democratic movement march on the streets of the capital Dhaka against the then dictator. Various organizations have taken detailed programs on the occasion of the day.
Martyr Noor Hossain was at the forefront of the procession carrying the slogans ‘Democracy Mukti Pak’ and ‘Let Autocracy Die’ on his chest and back. The great self-sacrifice of Shaheed Nur Hossain is a significant and inspiring event in the history of Bangladesh’s democratic movement. The anti-dictatorship movement at that time gained more momentum through the blood donation of Shaheed Noor Hossain and the dictator fell on December 6, 1990 as a result of continuous struggle.
On the occasion of Shaheed Noor Hossain Day, Awami League will hold a prayer at Shaheed Noor Hossain Chatter in Gulistan, capital tomorrow at 9 am and pray for the forgiveness of his departed soul.
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader MP today in a statement called upon the people of all levels, including the leaders and workers of the party and all allied organizations, to observe the ‘Shaheed Noor Hossain Day’, a brave man remembered in the history of the democratic movement of Bangladesh, with due dignity.
