 National Fisheries Week 2023 was celebrated yesterday in Noakhali on 25th July by the district administration and the Directorate of Fisheries in Noakhali with the timely slogan “Nirapada Mache Bharbo Desh, Garbo Smart Bangladesh”. In the morning under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner, after a rally road walk, different types of fish fry were released in the pond in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
At the end, a discussion meeting was held at Maizdi BRDB Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Fisheries Officer Iqbal Hossain and moderated by Farm Manager KM Mahfuzur Rahman. Deputy Commissioner Dewan Mahbubur Rahman spoke as the chief guest, distinguished philanthropist and philanthropist Md. Jahangir Alam, personal assistant of Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Professor Abdullah Al Mamun, fisheries expert of Noakhali University of Science and Technology spoke as special guests. , Sadar Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Manas Mondal, District Agriculture Officer Shahidul Islam, Sadar Upazila Vice Chairman Nilufa Momin, Noakhali Municipality Ward No. 9 Councilor Fakhrul Uddin Mahmud Fakhrul along with fish farm owners and owners of fish food selling establishments, various traders, representatives of the market management committee. Students, teachers, dignitaries and representatives of print and electronic media from various educational institutions including Science and Technology University, Noakhali Government College were present in the discussion meeting and rally.
Speakers said, “Fisheries have now become a profitable enterprise. Honorable Prime Minister declared a technology-based economically rich and developed smart Bangladesh Birnimane, the current government has taken various activities for the development of fishermen across the country as a result of which Bangladesh ranks second in fish production. Therefore, fish farmers, fish traders, fish food supply companies and the leaders of various market management committees are called upon to work together to cultivate safe fish.
