The traditional Baisakhi festival of Brahmanbaria district organized by Sahitya Academy has started. Tomorrow 17th, 18th and 19th Baisakh 1430 and 30th April, 01st and 02nd May 2023 Sunday, Monday and Tuesday will be held for three days at Dhirendranath Dutta Bhasha Chatwar (Industrial School Ground) in the city. The three-day Baisakhi festival will be inaugurated by the President of the Standing Committee of Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry of Brahmanbaria Sadar and Vijaynagar-3 Parliamentary Constituency, Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury MP. Brahmanbaria Deputy Commissioner will be present as a special guest. Shahgir Alam, Brahmanbaria District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain, Mayor of Brahmanbaria Municipality Mrs. Nair Kabir, Chief Executive Officer of Brahmanbaria Municipality Poet and Lyricist Md. A. Quddus, General Secretary of Brahmanbaria Press Club. Baharul Islam Molla and Brahmanbaria Journalist Union President Deepak Choidhuri Bappi. Sahitya Academy has been celebrating Baisakhi every year since 1987. Every year on Pahela Baisakh, this festival of Sarbjanin Bengalis is organized by Sahitya Academy in Brahmanbaria. The first festival celebrated in 1987 was for three days but from the following year the festival has been celebrated for seven days. This year’s thirty-sixth Baisakhi festival was held back on a smaller scale for three days due to the start of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr. Sahitya Academy president poet Joydul Hossain has invited everyone to the three-day Baisakhi festival.
