This Eid is different for us – BNP Secretary General

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, this Eid is different for us compared to the last 15 years. There are many differences. We are celebrating Eid in a free environment.

He said, we have been fighting for the establishment of democracy, the right to vote, the right to rice and the establishment of human rights for 16 years.

He said these things while talking to journalists after laying floral tributes and prayers at the tomb of the party’s founder, martyred President Ziaur Rahman on Monday (March 31).

The BNP Secretary General said, whoever works according to the position he is in will be successful. Especially the interim government is committed to the people. I hope they will fulfill it. We will definitely fulfill the promise we have made on behalf of our party.

He also expressed optimism that the interim government will restore the democratic rights of the people.

At the beginning of his speech, he extended Eid greetings to the countrymen on behalf of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and members of the party and its standing committee.

Mirza Fakhrul said, we visited the shrine of our leader and offered prayers. At the same time, we sought the forgiveness of the soul of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia’s youngest son, the late Arafat Rahman Koko. We also sought the forgiveness of the souls of those who gave their lives and were martyred in the 16-year movement. We paid tribute and prayed to those who fought for the country and became martyrs and sacrificed their lives during the great liberation war.
