The 1st Shaheed Zia Memorial Football Tournament began with enthusiasm at Kuchai Ground, Sylhet on Friday (January 10) afternoon.
BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Khandaker Abdul Moktadir was the chief guest at the inaugural function, while Sylhet Metropolitan BNP General Secretary Imdad Hossain Chowdhury was the special guest.
Under the chairmanship of Syed Ali Azam Mukul, a prominent elder of Kuchai area, and jointly moderated by the tournament management committee president Hussain Ahmed Talukder and general secretary Saker Rahman, the opening ceremony was attended by special guests – Sylhet District BNP Joint Secretary Tajul Islam Tajul, Metropolitan BNP Joint Secretary Murshed Ahmed Mukul, Sylhet District Secchasevak Dal convener Abdul Ahad Khan Jamal, Saudi Arabia BNP provincial branch convener Zakaria Arifin Faisal, Sylhet District Secchasevak Dal member secretary Shakil Murshed, Metropolitan Secchasevak Dal member secretary Afsar Khan, UK Secchasevak Dal vice-president Jasim Uddin, Sylhet District Jubo Dal vice-president Layek Ahmed, Metropolitan Jubo Dal joint general secretary Babar Ahmed, District Jubo Dal leader Mujibul Haque Rahat, District Jubo Dal leader Ruhul Amin Dinar, South Surma Upazila BNP Joint Secretary Bazlur Rahman Fayez, Kuchai Union BNP former General Secretary Jamir Uddin, Janata Club President Syed Tarek Ahmed, prominent social worker and sports enthusiast Haji Dilal Ahmed.
In today’s inaugural match, FC Samad Fighters and Green Sylhet Academy faced each other. And in that match, Shakil of FC Samad Fighters was selected as the Man of the Match with an impressive game and goal.
