Inaugural meeting of construction of a wooden bridge was held at Haldia Bazar on Monday at 11 am for the convenience of movement of union residents after the iron bridge of Chawra and Haldia connection canal collapsed in the canal near Haldia Union of Haldia Union of Amtali, Barguna.
On June 22, the Chawra canal bridge adjacent to Haldia Bazar along with wedding brides collapsed and 9 passengers died in the canal. After the collapse of the bridge, a 200m wide wooden bridge was constructed at the initiative of Maqbul Ahmed Khan, a prominent social worker of Haldia Union and joint convener of Upazila BNP, considering the relief of the residents of Haldia Union. initiative is taken.
An opening meeting was organized at Haldia Bazar ground yesterday at 11 am. Social worker Md. Amtali Upazila Nirbahi Officer Muhammad Ashraful Alam spoke as the chief guest in the inaugural meeting held under the chairmanship of Nannu Molla. Amtali Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Tarek Hasan, Amtali Police Station Officer-in-Charge said in the meeting. Imran Khan, joint convener of PaurBNP, Milton Biswas, principal of Haldia Hat Government Primary School. Mohsin Molla, Sohrab Hossain Montu Chowkidar, Sohrab Hossain Master, Bahadur Molla, UP member Saiful Islam Swapan, Ahidul Islam Molla etc. At the end of the meeting, the chief guest inaugurated the construction of the bridge on two wooden stilts.
