The audience stood in silent protest for 1 minute before the screening of the movie. The film’s makers, producers, actors and artists from the entertainment industry and the crew attended the special screening of the movie ‘Dagi’ yesterday. They protested against the genocide by the Israeli forces in Palestine.
On the night of April 7, a special screening of the movie ‘Dagi’ was held at the new branch of Star Cineplex in Kurmitola in the capital. On that day, a ‘global strike’ was called around the world to protest the genocide in Palestine. The common people of this country supported it. Since it was pre-planned, the special screening of ‘Dagi’ was held on the same day. A section of the artistic community joined in the protest.
The event was attended by Mahendra Soni, Chairman of SVF Alpha I Entertainment Limited, the production company of the movie ‘Dagi’, Managing Director Shahriar Shakil, CEO of the movie’s co-production company Charkir Redwan Rony, film director Shihab Shaheen, journalist-writer Sajjad Sharif and Anisul Haque, among others.
Among the actors present were Tariq Anam Khan, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Gazi Raqayet, Intekhab Dinar, Bijori Barkatullah, Afran Nisho, Tama Mirza, Sumon Anwar, Sushma Sarkar, Rashed Mamun Apu, AK Azad Setu, Sohel Mondal, Sadia Ayman, producers Sharaf Ahmed Jibon, Raihan Rafi, Zahid Pritam and many others. Musicians Sajid Sarkar and Masha Islam also joined the protest. Masha said, ‘I liked seeing my songs sung on the big screen with everyone. I liked the use of songs the most. It matched the story perfectly.’
Barbad movie producer Shahrin Akhter Sumi and director Mehedi Hasan Hridoy were present at the special screening of ‘Dagi’. They highly praised the film. Producer Mehedi Hasan Hridoy said, “Dagi” is a very beautiful story and production. I have nothing to say about Shihab Shahin bhai and Afran Nisho bhai. I enjoyed the film a lot.” Producer Shahrin Akhter Sumi also expressed her admiration after watching the film. She said, “Dagi is a wonderfully produced film.”
With the special screening, producer Zahid Pritam saw Daagi for the fourth time and dancer Hridoy Sheikh saw it for the second time. Both praised the film and the main character of the film, Afran Nisho. Hridoy Sheikh said that after watching the film, she felt that her mother should also watch ‘Dagi’.
‘Dagi’ is playing in some other theaters in the country, including Star Cineplex in the capital. The audience was interested in the movie since its release on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
This love from the audience is giving more hope to the producers. Mahendra Soni, Chairman of SVF Alpha I Entertainment Limited, assured to give something new in the special screening.
