Sikrbi will be an international standard school

A decision has been taken to increase the number of seats in Sylhet Agricultural University to increase access to higher education. This decision was taken considering the meritorious students from lower and middle class families.

From the 2024-25 academic year, the number of seats for Bachelor’s Level-1 Semester-1 has been increased from 431 to 580.

The decision was taken at the 47th meeting of the Academic Council at the university’s central auditorium on Wednesday. In addition, the meeting approved various demands of students and took various decisions to improve the quality of education.

The meeting was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Dr. Md. Alimul Islam, and was attended by Treasurer Professor Dr. ATM Mahbub-e-Ilahi, Professor of the Department of Sociology of Shabiprabir, Dr. Md. Abdul Gani, Deans of various faculties, Department Chairmen, Proctors, Librarians, Controllers of Examinations and Associate Professors of the Department.

The meeting was moderated by the Member Secretary of the Academic Council, Registrar of SIKRU, Professor Dr. Md. Asad-ud-Daulah.

In his speech as the president, Dr. Md. Alimul Islam sought everyone’s cooperation in developing SIKRBI as an international standard school.
