Md. Asad: Raihan, the then in-charge of the medical outpost of Bogra Sadar Police Station, used to target and shoot BNP Jamaat workers during the strike called by BNP Jamaat in Bogra. In 2013, a non-cooperation movement was going on across the country in support of the morning and evening strike called by the 18-party alliance including BNP Jamaat on several demands including the restoration of the caretaker government system, lifting of the ban on meetings and gatherings, and the release of arrested leaders and activists. As part of the movement, Raihan, the then in-charge of the medical outpost, targeted and shot at BNP Jamaat workers protesting in the Silimpur area of Bogra during a protest march and rally in Bogra. While investigating the incident, eyewitnesses and locals said that on 6.5.2013, around 12 noon, protesters were protesting in the Silimpur Harigari area of Bogra. In such a situation, Raihan, the in-charge of the then medical outpost, started shooting at BNP and Jamaat workers with a revolver. The protesters dispersed and ran towards Chilimpur village. At one stage, from near the fence hotel adjacent to Bishwa Road, they targeted a Jamaat worker named Tagor in the head and shot him. Jamaat worker Tagor fell on the road after being shot. When the eyewitness ran and wanted to take Tagor to the medical for treatment, the outpost in-charge Raihan told him that he was involved with them. Then the eyewitness said to Raihan, “Brother, my son is beating me like this and he is dying, JU, didn’t you fix the job?” You are the one who is going to the medical center. After the eyewitness, a CNG driver forcibly took the bullet-injured Togar to the medical center. At that time, the locals did not speak out against the outpost in-charge Raihan, but now they are strongly demanding that the police officer be brought to justice. The police officer was working at the Kaigari police outpost of Shahjahanpur police station in Bogra since August 5. He was transferred from Bogra in early March. The police officers who shot at BNP Jamaat workers are creating a tunnel to implement the Awami League agenda by transferring them to different districts. According to special sources, he is claiming to be an honest police officer and is lobbying for promotion.
