Dhaka North Metropolitan Awami League general secretary public leader Alhaj SM Mannan Kochi has congratulated the people of the city on the 53rd Victory Day.
Victory Day is celebrated as a special day in Bangladesh all over the country. The day is specially celebrated in Bangladesh on 16 December every year. In a notification issued on 22 January 1972, the day was celebrated as the National Day of Bangladesh and declared an official holiday. About 91,634 members of the Pakistani army formally surrendered at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on December 16, 1971 after a nine-month liberation war. As a result, Bangladesh emerged as an independent and sovereign state.
He said in a greeting message, our great freedom was achieved on December 16, 1971 in exchange of millions of lives in a long nine months of bloody struggle. I can firmly say that today we got a country called independent Bangladesh because of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangladesh Awami League. On the day of victory, I wish the souls of all the martyred freedom fighters to rest in peace.
He also said that the history of Bangladesh is witnessing the progress of the development by the honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the privileged daughter of the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Where everyone has turned away after hearing about the Padma Bridge. But my leader honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has shown that it is possible. That is Sheikh Hasina. All have faith in the Prime Minister and also in Bangladesh Awami League.
