‘From mountains to plains, the New Year’s atmosphere is all over the country today’ – Industry Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan

Jointly organized by Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) and Bangla Academy
The seven-day ‘Baisakhi Mela-1432’ has begun.
The fair was inaugurated by Industry Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan and Cultural Affairs Advisor Mostafa Sarwar Farooqui at the Bangla Academy premises in Dhaka on Monday (1st Baishakh). Industries Secretary Md. Obaidur Rahman, Cultural Affairs Secretary Md. Mofidur Rahman and Bangla Academy President Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque were present at the event.
Bangla Academy Director General Professor Mohammad Azam presided over the inauguration ceremony. BSCIC Chairman Md. Saiful Islam delivered the welcome address at the event.
At the inauguration ceremony of the Baisakhi Fair, Industry Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan said, “From the mountains to the plains, the New Year is in full swing across the country today. The people of Bangladesh are celebrating the New Year together today. With the participation of everyone, the New Year joyous procession is going on across the country. We, as a united nation, stand against fascism in North Bangladesh. We want to bring this festival to every home.”
He also said that there is a huge interest in Bangladesh’s ready-made garments, handicrafts, and food products abroad. Entrepreneurs will make these products exportable abroad through this fair. The way entrepreneurs are taking North Bangladesh forward on August 5, the country will move towards another industrial revolution. I hope that this fair organized by Bangla Academy will play a role in the development of entrepreneurs.
Cultural Advisor Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui said, “We have entered the new Bangladesh after August 5. All ethnic groups participated together in today’s rally and are celebrating together. An inclusive and colorful festival. A fair is a place where both parties are happy. One buys and the other sells. The fair has cultural importance.”
Bangla Academy President Professor Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque said, “Organizing the Boishakhi Fair is a good initiative for us. We will celebrate the Bengali New Year as part of our national culture. We had a bright past, and we must celebrate the first Boishakh with the goal of building a prosperous future.”
Industries Secretary Md. Obaidur Rahman said, “Bangla New Year has become a part of our lives. Bangla New Year is our universal event. Today’s fair will create new entrepreneurs and create employment for the youth.”
Cultural Affairs Secretary Md. Mofidur Rahman said that Baisakhi fairs have been organized across the country, including Dhaka, through inclusive culture.
After the discussion, the guests toured the fair, spoke with entrepreneurs, and inaugurated the fair by releasing balloons.
There are 98 stalls in this fair. This seven-day fair offers a variety of products including daily necessities, various types of cottage industries, crafts, toys, etc. In addition, various entertainment programs including Jatra, puppet dance, Nagardola, circus are organized in the fair. The fair will start at 10 am and will continue till 8 pm.
