Schoolboy Kafi missing for a week in Joypurhat

Kafi Khandaker (8), a third-grade student in Khetlal, Joypurhat, has been missing for almost a week. The family and relatives are going crazy after losing their only son. Despite filing complaints with various departments including the GD at the police station, no trace has been found. The matter has created a stir in the district through social media. Meanwhile, the police are making strong efforts to rescue the child.

Schoolboy Kafi Khandaker is the son of Sanchay Khandaker of Shyolapara village in Khetlal upazila and a third-grade student of Nashirpur Daulatgazi Government Primary School.

Family and relatives said that schoolboy Kafi Khandaker was playing with other children near his house like every day on the afternoon of April 18. After playing, the other children returned home before evening that day, but Kafi did not return home. The family members are spending their days in extreme despair, pain and uncertainty after searching for their only son. There is no trace of how he disappeared. The family and locals have requested the law enforcement agencies to rescue Kafi immediately.

Josna Khatun, a local female UP member of Alampur Union Parishad in Khetlal Upazila, said, “Immediately after the child Kafi went missing, every house in our village was searched in various places without finding him. Still, he could not be found. A GD has been filed at the police station. Why does the administration take so long to find a child? I will request the police and administration to rescue the child immediately.”

Dipendranath Singh, officer-in-charge of Khetlal Police Station, said, “A GD has been filed at the police station in this incident. Multiple police teams are working to rescue the missing Kafi. In addition, the matter has been reported to various police stations across the country, including RAB. Everyone is trying.”
