SCC donates 30 thousand tk to 77 puja mandaps of 42 wards of city during Durga Puja in Sylhet

All kinds of initiatives have been taken by the Sylhet City Corporation to properly celebrate the autumn Durga festival of the Hindu community.

On the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja-2024 celebrations, an exchange meeting was held with the leaders of Sanatan Hindu community and Puja celebration committees of Sylhet city under the initiative of Sylhet City Corporation.

Administrator of Sylhet City Corporation Abu Ahmad Siddiqui NDC presided over the meeting held at Nagar Bhaban meeting room on Tuesday afternoon.

This year, autumn Durga Puja will be held in 77 puja mandaps in 42 wards of Sylhet city.

On this occasion, 30 thousand taka have been donated to 77 puja mandaps. City Corporation Administrator Abu Ahmed Siddiqui NDC handed over the donation check to the President/General Secretary of 77 Puja Mandap Committee in the exchange meeting.

In the chairman’s speech at the meeting, City Corporation Administrator Abu Ahmad Siddiqui NDC said that there is a shining example of communal harmony in Sylhet. This tradition should be maintained.

He said, the people of Sylhet are sophisticated and elegant in their thinking and very restrained in their behavior. We are committed to peaceful puja celebrations.

With the concerted efforts of all, Sharidiya Durga Puja will be celebrated in Sylhet very peacefully, religiously and solemnly. He assured all kinds of cooperation from the City Corporation to celebrate the puja. Abu Ahmad Siddiqui gave various instructions to the concerned including uninterrupted power supply for worship, illumination of various roads especially mandap area, ensuring cleanliness, necessary renovation of roads. He requested the Puja Mandap concerned to contact the administration for any need without listening to any kind of rumour.

The chief executive officer of CSIC spoke at the meeting. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Vice President of Puja Udjakar Parishad Central Committee Advocate Mritunjay Dhar Bhola, President of Puja Udjabar Parishad Sylhet Metropolitan Branch Pradeep Kumar Deb, General Secretary Chandan Das etc. In the beginning Jyotish Chakraborty recited the Holy Gita. In the meeting, Chief Engineer of City Corporation Noor Azizur Rahman, Secretary Md. Ashiq Noor, Chief Revenue Officer Matiur Rahman Khan, Chief Health Officer Dr. Md. Zahidul Islam, Chief Property Officer Biswajit Deb, Executive Engineer (Electricity). Ruhul Alam, Executive Engineer (Mechanical) Mohammad Ullah, Chief Waste Management Officer Lt. Colonel (Retd.) Mohammad Ekalim Abdeen, Accounting Officer ANM Mansuf, Education, Culture, Library and Social Welfare Officer Nehar Ranjan Purkayastha, president and general secretary of various puja mandaps and administration officials were present.
