The government of Saudi Arabia is allowing residential buildings to accommodate Hajj pilgrims. Already, 1,860 buildings have been approved for Hajj pilgrims in Mecca. According to the Saudi government panel, 1.2 million pilgrims can stay in these approved buildings.
 Visa issuance for Hajj pilgrims has started from yesterday Friday (March 1). Which will continue till April 29. Hajj pilgrims from different countries of the world will perform Hajj from May 9 this year.
 Makkah Deputy Governor Prince Saud bin Meshaal said that residential building licenses will be issued until the month of Shawwal. The number of buildings licensed to accommodate pilgrims in the holy city of Mecca is expected to exceed 5,000. Last year, during the Hajj season, 2 million pilgrims performed Hajj worldwide.
 Hajj Minister Tawfiq Al Rabiah said that Saudi Arabia has canceled a long-standing rule for Hajj to be held next June. According to the new rules, no residence will be assigned to citizens of any country in the vicinity of Mecca.
