Rural sports are our tradition, we must preserve it

Md. Aman Ullah, Cox’s Bazar: Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin said, rural sports are our heritage. These sports must be maintained. Due to mobile and modern technology, the new generation has forgotten rural sports including athletics. This can never be auspicious for the nation. Therefore, rural sports should be practiced more in free time. For this, he suggested preserving the field in every school and college and making arrangements for regular sports. The Deputy Commissioner said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of Athletics and Rural Sports organized by the Cox’s Bazar District Sports Office under the annual sports program 2024-25 financial year prepared by the Sports Directorate approved by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. On the morning of December 15, Cox’s Bazar DC College Principal Md. Ibrahim Hossain presided over the inaugural ceremony of the rural sports program organized at the Cox’s Bazar DC College grounds. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Imran Hossain Sajeeb, District Education Officer Ram Mohan Sen. District Sports Officer Main Uddin Milki were present as special guests. The event was conducted by Md. Sharif, lecturer of Cox’s Bazar DC College. Later, the students of DC College participated in various rural sports competitions including athletics.
