In the financial year 2024-2025 in Pirojpur Sadar Upazila, juvenile fish have been released in various government, institutional and open water bodies under the conservation and development project of indigenous species of fish and snails.
Pirojpur District Fisheries Officer Sanjeev Sannamat inaugurated the fish release in Kumirmara shelter pond of Shariktala Union of Sadar Upazila on Thursday, November 21 at 12 noon on the initiative of Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer’s office.
Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Mamunur Rashid, Senior Assistant Director Pranab Kumar, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer MM Parvez, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Golam Mostafa, Upazila Social Service Officer, Upazila Cooperative Officer, Joint Convener of District Jubodal Riaz Shikdar, nationalist fishermen were present. Party President Md. Tariqul Islam, former volunteer party leader Alif Mahmud Rajib etc.
According to the sources of the Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer’s office, 915 kg of carp fry and 600 kg of native horn fish fry will be released in 39 institutional, government and shelters including 3 open water bodies of the upazila
