India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar termed the recent events in Bangladesh as an ‘internal matter’. According to him, no comment should be made on this. India is keen to continue stable relations with Bangladesh as a neighbour.
Jaishankar spoke to NDTV on Tuesday (September 17) on the occasion of the completion of 100 days of Narendra Modi government in the third phase. He said these things about Bangladesh while talking about various aspects of the country’s foreign policy.
S Jaishankar says, neighbors live with each other. We have trade relations with Bangladesh. People have close contact with people. We are keen to take this relationship and communication further.
When asked about the political changes in Bangladesh and what India should do in this situation, the Indian foreign minister said that everything will not always be right. Everything is not always favorable. What happened in Bangladesh is their own politics. Privacy is an internal matter. So it is inappropriate to comment on him. We always maintain relations with the existing government – that’s all we can say.
S. Jaishankar believes that neighbor relations will reach another height if the importance of Dhaka relations is understood. He also commented that neighbors are always dependent on each other.
Without naming names, S. Jaishankar also mentioned India’s relations with other neighbours. He said that political incidents have happened in other neighboring countries too. But reconciled. What will happen in Bangladesh will happen. It is not appropriate to comment on this.
