On 19/02/2025 at approximately 06.30 in the morning, the victim (14), a student of class 8, was on her way to private school when the accused Md. Hafizur Rahman Babu (30) along with other accused forcibly abducted the victim against her will and raped her by luring her with the lure of marriage. Later, the victim’s father filed a Miss Petition Case No. 107/2025, Section 7/9(1)30 of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act of 2000 (Amendment 2003) in the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, Barguna. The investigating officer of the case sent a writ petition to the Commander, RAB-10, Dhaka to bring the accused involved in the rape under the law. Based on the said request, a RAB-10 operation team increased intelligence surveillance to arrest the said accused and rescue the victim.
In continuation of this, on 20/04/2025 at approximately 14.00 hrs., the said operation team of RAB-10 conducted a raid in the old Bharalia area under Keraniganj Model Police Station of Dhaka district based on secret information and with the help of information technology and arrested the absconding accused of the said rape case, Md. Hafizur Rahman Babu (30), father- Md. Amir Hossain, Sang- Deshantar Kathi, Police Station- Betagi, District- Barguna and according to the information given by him, the victim (14) was rescued.
The arrested accused and the victim have been handed over to the concerned police station.
