The Rangpur Metropolitan Detective Police arrested two people within 24 hours of recovering the half-melted body of a class 10 madrasa student named Rubel eight days after he went missing in Rangpur. According to the police, the deceased’s sister-in-law Apple and his friend Sohag, a motorcycle mechanic, committed the incident over the division of family property. Rubel is the son of Bellal Hossain of Kalyani Union of Pirgacha Upazila. Deputy Police Commissioner Abu Maruf Hossain confirmed this information in a press briefing at RPMP Intelligence Office on Tuesday afternoon, June 11.
It should be noted that Rubel disappeared after leaving home at around 9 pm on June 2. After that, father Belal Hossain made a general diary (GD) at the Metropolitan Mahiganj Police Station on June 3 afternoon, but could not find the ruble.
On the basis of that diary, the police arrested the brother-in-law of the deceased Hasan Ali alias Apple as a suspect on Monday afternoon. Later, after preliminary interrogation, based on the information given by him, the body was recovered and sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue. Belal Hossain, the father of the deceased Rubel, said that his son Rubel Mia left home around 9 pm on June 2 to take a class at a computer training center in the local Baradarga market. Since then he has not returned home. In this incident, he made a general diary (GD) with the names of three people at the Metropolitan Mahiganj police station on June 3 at noon.
Rangpur Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Utpal Kumar Roy said that after the disappearance, Rubel’s sister-in-law Hasan Ali alias Apple demanded Tk 15 lakh from various mobile phone numbers. The family has claimed that Rubel was killed by strangulation due to a family feud. However, he said that the real mystery will be revealed once the autopsy report is available
