Keeping in mind the slogan “Establish the land rights and human rights of the landless”, on Tuesday, April 29, a colorful rally was organized by the District Landless Coordination Council of People’s Organizations, Dinajpur, and in collaboration with the Community Development Association (CDA), with landless members from 9 upazilas of Dinajpur district, at 10 am. The rally went around the main roads of the city and ended at the Shishu Academy auditorium. The discussion meeting was presided over by the District Landless Coordination Council of Dinajpur, Md. Lutfar Rahman. The Deputy Director of CDA, Alim Al Razi, delivered the welcome speech.
The opening speech was delivered by CDA’s Chief Assistant and Executive Director Shah E Mobin Jinnah. Additional District Administrator (Revenue) Jane Alam spoke as the chief guest. District Information Officer Sadia Afdhisar Shefa, District Cooperative Office Inspector Md. Tariqul Islam, and District Agriculture Department’s Chief Agricultural Engineer Md. Badruddoja spoke as special guests. Poppy Rani Barman, a youth leader of the public organization, read the concept paper. Md. Dulal Hossain, General Secretary of the District Landless Coordination Council, read the memorandum. Under the direction of CDA’s Regional Coordinator Kamruzzaman, Manik Adhikari of Bochaganj Upazila, Liton Sarkar of Chirirbandar Upazila, Sadar’s female leader Shahana Begum, Md. Enamul Haque, Swapna Adhikari, Krishna Kora, Md. Shahidullah, etc. spoke about the ongoing practical activities of the organization. They said, “The government land occupied by land grabbers should be recovered and distributed fairly among the landless. Land banks should be formed through the formation of a coordination committee, 200 days of employment, illegal encroachers should be evicted and the property of the indigenous people should be returned, and all kinds of violence and corruption in the land administration should be stopped. Our 18-point demands should be immediately implemented.” After the meeting, the members of the District Landless Coordination Council, including the meeting head Md.
