A rally and discussion meeting was held on the occasion of Liberation War Memorial Day at Jhalam High School and College in Barura, Comilla.
On Sunday, December 10, at 10 am, the rally started from the Jhalam High School and College Grounds and circled the various roads of Jhalam Bazar and ended at the College Grounds. Students, teachers and members of the governing body, brave freedom fighters participated in the rally.
At the end of the rally, in Jhalam High School and College Auditorium President of College Governing Body Md. Abdus Samad participated in the discussion meeting under the chairmanship of Hero Freedom Fighter Md. Abul Bashar, Hero Freedom Fighter Md. Abdul Mannan, Hero Freedom Fighter Ali Mohammad, Principal of Jhalam High School and College Mohammad Emdadul Haque, Jhalam High. Senior Lecturer Md. Masud Majumdar, the representative of school and college teachers, brave freedom fighter Md. Rustam Ali, witness of the incident Md. Idris Mia, former student of Jhalam High School and College etc.
During the Great War of Liberation, on December 10, 1971, a battle was organized between the freedom fighters and the Pak invading forces in the western side of Khalarpar village of Barura upazila, in which 5 people were martyred and many were injured. Mir, Sirajul Islam of Mohidpur village, Zainal Abedin of Ali Ashraf Khalarpar village. On that day, they freed the Razakars who were detained in the laboratory of the then Jhalam High School (now Jhalam High School and College) and completely blew up the school with grenades, dynamite and other weapons stored in the school by the freedom fighters. Destroyed by Pakistani forces. But unfortunately, this historic event has not been recorded in the history of the liberation war and the local people have almost forgotten the event with the passage of time.
In this situation, so that the new generation does not forget the incident and to remember the day, Jhalam High School College is surrounded by the memories of the Liberation War. In order to observe the day as the Liberation War Memorial Day, a discussion meeting was organized at the Jhalam High School College on Sunday 10th December at 10 am. The discussion was attended by brave freedom fighters and Local eyewitnesses.
