Rallies and discussion meetings were held in Comilla under the slogan Save River – Save Country on the theme of River and Nature Protection – Comilla to be seen.
River and nature social protection movement ‘Tari Bangladesh’ Comilla district branch organized at Kabi Nazrul Institute auditorium in Comilla on Saturday afternoon.
Mahfuza Mateen, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Development and Human Resource Management Department of Comilla District Administration was the chief guest on the occasion.
Tari Bangladesh convener Shamim Ahmed presided over the event.
The special guest speech was given by Jahangir Alam Imrul, the founder president of Oitiha Comilla, the officer in charge of Kavi Nazrul Institute, Comilla. Al-Amin, Nangalkot Tilip Sufia Noorani Alim Madrasah Principal Saleh Ahmed Bhuiyan.
The speakers said that the river is the culture and tradition of this country and the rivers are like the veins of our country. So it is our civic duty to protect the river.
In the speech of the chief guest, Additional District Commissioner Mahfuza Matin said that illegal encroachers will be freed immediately from the district administration in Gomti, the main river of Comilla as part of the whole country.
Hriday Kamal, Ripon Chakraborty and Khaleda Munni, members of the convening committee of Tari Bangladesh, among others spoke.
Before this, a colorful procession came out from the front of Comilla District School and went around the various roads of the city and ended at Kabi Nazrul Institute.
Later, Habibur Rahman was convener and Md. Rezaul Hasan as member-secretary, a twenty-member convening committee of Tarir Comilla was formed.
