The police have arrested Rajbari District Jubo League President Md. Shawkat Hasan (50) in a case of attack and shooting during an anti-discrimination student movement in Rajbari.
He was arrested from Aladipur area of ​​Alipur Union in Sadar Upazila at around 2:30 pm on Tuesday (March 25).
Shawkat Hasan is the son of the late Azahar Ali Sheikh, former chairman of Aldipur village in Alupur Union. He was also the chairman of Alipur Union Parishad.
Rajbari Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmudur Rahman confirmed the matter in a press release around 3 pm on Tuesday (March 25). He also said that Shawkat Hasan, the accused arrested during the investigation in the attack and shooting case during the anti-discrimination student movement, will be sent to court.
According to police station and case sources, on July 18/24, at approximately 3:40 PM, the accused and unknown accused mentioned in the complaint and others formed an illegal mob as planned and surrounded the protesters from all sides with bombs, firearms, ramda, chapati, iron rods, bamboo sticks, and various tree branches, along with other deadly weapons.
On the orders of former Rajbari 01 MP Kazi Keramat Ali, named as Ezhar, and District Awami League General Secretary Kazi Iradat Ali, named as Ezhar, accused number 74 Md. Shafiqul Hossain, accused number 104 Saifuddin Ahmed Sujan, accused number 92 Ashraful Hasan Asha, and accused number 137 Faruk Contractor, they threw the bombs they brought with them with the intention of killing the protesters. The protesters ran in different directions after their dagger bombs exploded. At this time, the other accused named in the complaint and the unknown accused, along with the other accused, detonated the bombs they brought with them with the intention of killing the students and their guardians participating in the movement. Some of the accused, aiming at the general public, raised their firearms and shot, creating terror and the accused brutally beat the protesters and seriously injured them. The accused did not allow the injured to receive any treatment anywhere, including Rajbari Sadar Hospital. The accused tried to suppress a rational movement in a merciless and cruel way and made a despicable attempt to sabotage the anti-discrimination student movement by filing false cases. The accused injured 1st Sonia Akhter Smriti 2nd Nurun Nabi 3rd Ashiq Islam Abi 4th Rajib Molla 5th Mehrab 6th Altaf Mahmud Sagar 7th Uts Sarkar 8th Riyaz and numerous other protesters.
The accused ordered the unarmed protesters to gather in an illegal crowd and kill them with the intention of killing them, and with the intention of killing them, they beat the protesters with domestic firearms in various parts of their bodies, causing serious injuries.

On the instructions of the Officer-in-Charge of Rajbari Sadar Police Station, SI (Retd) Md. Mikail Hossain along with his team conducted a raid and at 2:30 pm, Rajbari District Jubo League President Shawkat Hasan was arrested from Aladipur. ”
