Raid on fake baby food factory in Laksham: Tk 2 lakh fine, 2 months imprisonment

A mobile court raided a factory producing fake baby food and juice in Laksam, Comilla, and ordered the owner to pay a fine of Tk 2 lakh and serve two months in prison. The factory was also sealed.
On Wednesday (April 9) afternoon, Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Kausar Hamid and his team conducted a raid on the factory, which was operating secretly under the cover of the SS Workshop in the old bus stand area of ​​Laksham Municipality.
Army Captain Saikat. A large amount of counterfeit and unhealthy food products were seized and destroyed in a joint operation conducted by the army and police.
The raids recovered fake products like ‘Dinko’, ‘Mango’, ‘Anisa’, ‘Frutu’, juices with various names, food pickles, chutneys, ‘Shahjalal Chutney’, ‘Lexus Biscuits’, and even ‘Doop Mosquito Coil’. These products used toxic dyes and chemicals, and had fake BSTI seals on the packaging.
UNO Kausar Hamid said that the factory owner, Rezaul Karim Ratan, used to bring fake packaging from Dhaka’s Chawkbazar to produce and market these products. He confessed to his crime during the operation.
Local sources said that the production of adulterated products had been going on behind the scenes of the SS workshop for a long time. After the raid, the factory was sealed after destroying the recovered products and Ratan was sent to jail.
