The upazila administration and the Bandarban Environment Department have conducted a drive under the Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Establishment Control Act, 2013 for operating a brick kiln in Ajukhaiya, Ghumdhum Union, Naikshongchhari Upazila, Bandarban, in violation of government instructions at the K-R-E Brick Field.The source added that on Monday, the Magistrate of the Mobile Court, Naikshongchhari Upazila Executive Officer Muhammad Mazharul Islam Chowdhury, along with officials from the Environment Department, conducted the drive.At that time, the brick kiln was demolished and crushed. He said that this drive will continue against brick kilns that cut mountains, extract sand, and destroy the environment.At that time, Bandarban Environment Department Assistant Director Rezaul Karim, Inspector Nur Uddin, Naikshongchhari Upazila Range Officer Md. Mozammel Haque Sarkar, Ghumdhum Police Investigation Center (acting in-charge) Mohammad Kibria, along with members of the Fire Service, Ansar Bahini and Ghumdhum Investigation Center police were present. Naikshongchhari Upazila Executive Officer Muhammad Mazharul Islam Chowdhury said that a raid was conducted at the brick kiln (KRE) during the preparation of illegal brick making as per the High Court’s directives.
