On February 3, 2025, at approximately 4:30 am, 9/10 unidentified robbers entered the company by climbing the main gate of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited on the opposite side of the Bamail Russell Bridge in the capital’s Demra Thandhin. They threatened to hit 02 security guards on duty inside the Berger Paints Company with their swords, iron rods and axes and tied their hands and feet with mufflers and ropes. They beat up the other security guards on duty indiscriminately and told them to sit quietly, fearing that they would kill them. Then they broke the glass door of Berger Paints Company and entered the room and looted 39 GPS tracking mobiles, 04 generator batteries and 5,90,388/- (five lakh ninety thousand three hundred eighty eight) taka from the office locker, along with all the goods and cash worth a total of 11,30,388/- (eleven lakh thirty thousand three hundred eighty eight) taka. After the robbery, they threatened the security guards not to file a case and left the scene. Then, Md. Sajjad Hossain, the in-charge branch operation of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, filed a robbery case against 09/10 unknown people at the Demra Police Station in the capital. Case No.-02/47 dated- 04/02/2025, Section-395/397 Penal Code 1860.
The incident of the said robbery created a huge sensation in various electronic and print media. After learning about the matter of the said robbery case, an operational team of RAB-10, CPC-1, Jatrabari Camp increased intelligence surveillance and started shadow investigation with the aim of quickly arresting the accused.
In continuation of this, on 16/02/2025 at approximately 18:50 in the evening, an operational team of RAB-10, CPC-1, Jatrabari Camp conducted a raid in the area of ​​Mahmudpur Gorestan Road under Fatulla Police Station of Narayanganj district on the basis of intelligence information and with the help of information technology and in collaboration with RAB-11. The accused found in the investigation of the said sensational robbery case, Md. Rabiul Alam (30), father-Md. Hedayet Ullah, resident-South Shakhtala, Police Station-Sonaimuri, District-Noakhali, was arrested in the said raid.
The arrested accused has been handed over to the concerned police station.
