1. Md. Zahirul Haque (38), a resident of Sirajdikhan police station area of Munshiganj district, had been in a dispute with his neighbor Lokman Khan Swapan, who also lives in the same area, over various family matters. On 04/01/2025, Zahirul Haque’s younger brother Saikat came home from Saudi Arabia for a month’s vacation. Due to enmity over various family matters, on 15/01/2025, at approximately 18.00 hours, accused Mintu and his companions, along with 4/5 other accused, found the victim Saikat alone on the paved bridge in Khalpar area under Sirajdikhan police station in Munshiganj district and attacked him indiscriminately with sharp knives, Chinese axes, iron rods, hockey sticks and spade butts. The victim Saikat was seriously injured by the accused. Later, when the people around came forward due to the injured Saikat’s screams, all the accused including Lokman left the scene after intimidating and threatening her. Then the local people rescued the victim and took her to the Popular Medical College Hospital. On 27/01/2025 at 17:00 PM, the victim Saikat died while undergoing treatment in the Neuro ICU of the said hospital.
2. In that incident, the elder brother of the deceased Saikat, Md. Zahirul Haque, filed a murder case against Lokman and 05 people involved in the murder at Sirajdikhan Police Station of Munshiganj district as the plaintiff. Case No.-25, Date-26/01/2025 AD Section- 143/341/323/324/325/326/307/506(2) (Addition 302) Penal Code.
3. This brutal murder has already been widely reported in various electronic and print media, creating a huge sensation across the country. Upon learning of this sensational murder, a RAB-10 operation team increased intelligence surveillance and started shadow investigation to bring the accused involved in the expatriate beach murder under the law.
4. In continuation of this, the said operation team of RAB-10, based on intelligence information and with the help of information technology and in cooperation with RAB-06, conducted multiple operations and arrested the accused No. 02 in the murder case, Md. Mintu (38), father-deceased Helal Uddin, Sang-Khalpar, Thana-Sirajdikhan, District-Munshiganj, from the Railway Station area under Kaliganj Police Station of Jhenaidah District at approximately 15:30 pm on February 16, 2025.
5. Legal action against the arrested accused is under process.
