Since its inception, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has been playing a leading role in bringing all types of criminals under the law to maintain the overall law and order situation in the country. RAB regularly conducts operations against militants, terrorists, organized criminals, armed criminals, drug dealers and extortionists. This campaign of RAB has already managed to gain the trust of the people. In continuation of this yesterday on 04th June 2024 AD at approximately 20:00 PM, an raid team of RAB-10 conducted an operation in Babubazar area under Kotyali police station of capital Dhaka based on secret information. In the said operation, during the illegal extortion of money from various transports including inter-district trucks, covered vans, lorries and CNG, Md. Ripon (39), father-Md. Mozammel Haque, father-Md. Mozammel Haque, a total of 07 transporters including Thana-Bhola Sadar, District-Bhola. The extortionist was arrested. Other persons arrested are Md Noor Amin @ Russell (25), Father – Md Noornavi Patwari, Sang-Hakdi, Thana-Feni Sadar, District-Feni, 3. Md. Zahid (27), father-deceased Inchan Hawladar, Sang-Nazirabagh, Thana-Dakshin Keraniganj, District-Dhaka, Md. Dulal (22), father-Md. Khalil Bhandari, Sang-Kaliganj Bazar, Shantapara Gali, Thana-Dakshin Keraniganj, District-Dhaka 5. Md. Rabiul Islam (22), Father-Md. Sadar Molla, Sang-Kabutarpara, Kaliganj Bazar, Thana-Dakshin Keraniganj, District-Dhaka, 6. Md. Nirab Hossain (20), Father-Md. Anwar Mollah, Sang-Islamabad, Thana-Keraniganj Model, District-Dhaka, 7. Md. Sagar (19), Father-Md. Zakir Hossain, Sang-Banajora, Thana-Baufal, District-Barisal. During this time, the collected subscription cash – 4,520/- (four thousand five hundred and twenty) taka and 07 sticks were recovered from them. The preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested persons had been illegally extorting extortion by showing damages and intimidation to the drivers and helpers of various transports including inter-district trucks, covered vans, lorries and CNG in various surrounding areas including Kotyali, Dakshin Keraniganj and Jatrabari of the capital for some time. Legal action is pending against the arrested accused.
