Since its inception, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has been playing a leading role in bringing all types of criminals under the law to maintain the overall law and order situation of the country. Since its inception, RAB has been able to gain the trust of the general public by arresting huge quantities of illegal arms, ammunition, extortionists, terrorists, murderers, robbers, kidnappers and various types of fraudsters. This campaign of RAB has already managed to gain the trust of the people.
In continuation of this yesterday on 13th July 2024 at approximately 16:10 in the afternoon, a raid team of RAB-10 conducted an operation in the Staff Court area under Demra Police Station of the capital Dhaka based on secret information. In the said operation, 04 transport extortionists were arrested during illegal extortion from various transports including inter-district trucks, covered vans, lorries and CNG. Name of arrested persons 1. Md. A. Karim (60), father-deceased Alauddin, Sang-Kamargop, Thana-Demra, Dhaka, 2. Md. Jamal (42), Father-Deceased Abdul Rab, Sang-Kothara Mohabbatpur, Thana-Begumganj, District-Noakhali, 3. Kazi Md. Nasir Uddin (54), father-deceased Ismail Kazi, Sang-Uttar Jatrabari, Thana-Jatrabari, Dhaka and 4. Md Phulchan (55), father-deceased Matiur Rahman, Sang-Kamargop, Thana-Demra, Dhaka. During this time, the collected subscription cash – 6,770/- (six thousand seven hundred and seventy) taka and 02 (two) wooden sticks were recovered from them.
aThe preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested persons had been illegally extorting extortion by showing damages and intimidation to the drivers and helpers of various transports including inter-district trucks, covered vans, lorries and CNG in different areas of the capital Jatrabari and Demra for some time.
Regular cases were filed against the arrested persons: Transferred to the concerned police station.
