Comilla’s Barura Municipality held its proposed budget session for the financial year 2024-25. On Sunday, June 30, at 12:00 PM in the auditorium of Barura Municipal Building, the meeting was attended by Municipal Executive Officer Md. Mohsinur Rahman Khan, Accounts Officer Md. Mizanur Rahman, Engineer Md. Aminul Islam, General Secretary of Barura Bazar Traders Committee and Barura Shaheed. Saiful Islam, director of Mullah Electric and Sanitary. On this day, Mayor of Barura Municipality, Md. Baktar Hossain Bakhtiar, said that from the government funds and own income of the municipality, he published the pictorial report of the completed and ongoing road, bridge, culvert, sewage system and other development activities of the 9 wards of the municipality. He said that Barura Municipality has undergone many changes and development compared to any previous situation, currently some development projects are underway and when the work is completed, the common people of the municipality will not have to suffer any more, and he said that in the past, rain water would accumulate on the main road of the municipality and cause flooding. After the current council took charge, the drainage system has been improved as per the suggestions of councilors and civil society leaders. He assured that the work of sewage system is going on in some parts and will be completed soon. In addition, all the canals that have become necessary to be dug within the municipal area have already been sent to the local government minister Md Tajul Islam MP according to the suggestions and recommendations of the former member of parliament Nachimul Alam Chowdhury Nazrul and the current member of parliament Abu Zafar Mohammad Shafiuddin Shamim. After the discussion at the event, Barura municipality mayor Md Baktar Hossain Bakhtiar announced the budget of Tk 59 crore 75 lakh 25 thousand 178.
