LGED announced a project titled “People’s Adaptation Plan (PAPs) for Inclusive Climate Smart Cities” in collaboration with Ipsa (Young Power in Social Action) – Save the Children and Global Center on Adaptation for climate vulnerability risk assessment and formulation of inclusive people’s adaptation plans. City model is going to be implemented in Laksam, Feni and Mirsrai Municipalities Which will be possible to implement by June 14, 2025
An awareness meeting of the project was held on Wednesday (October 16) at the conference hall of Laksham Municipality organized by “Ipsa” (Young Power in Social Action).
Laksam Municipal Administrator and Deputy Director of Local Government Department S, M, Golam Kibria were present as the chief guests in the project briefing meeting. Sumit Saha, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate of Laksam Municipality was present as special guest
At the beginning of the ceremony, project coordinator Arun Darshi Chakma presented the keynote of the project and Ashfakur Rahman Asha presented the project activities.
In the presentation they outlined the main objectives of the project. The main objectives of this project are climate vulnerability risk assessment (stakeholder mapping, steering committee and advisory committee formation, GIS mapping of selected informal areas, climate risk profiling) and formulation of inclusive population adaptation plans.
Among the other guests present were the officials of different departments of the municipality, Upazila Social Service Officer Novel Chandra Das, Upazila Youth Development Mohammad Delwar Hossain, Upazila Women Affairs Officer Mansi Pal, Upazila Education Officer Delwar Hossain Majumdar, Senior Station Officer Kabirul Islam-Fire Service and journalists and Community stakeholders.
