Victim Md. Mahfuz Hasan held a paress conference at the Dinajpur Press Club (Nimtala) at 11:30 am (Wednesday, February 19, 2025) on the allegation of a terrorist attack on an employee of Palli Sanchay Bank.

He said that he is the son of the late Maqsud Alithar, former chairman of Auliapur UP No. 6 in Dinajpur, and was attacked by terrorists on the evening of February 14 on his way from Mohabbatpur Hajidighi to Faridpur on official bank work. The incident took place in front of the first gate of the traditional Cheradangi Fair.

He said, led by Mintu, the leaseholder of the bicycle stand of Bishuthar Putra Mela in Dinajpur Masimpur area, Babu, son of Nazim of the same area, Masud, son of deceased Mantathar of Pulhat area, Riyad, son of Hafizur Rahman of Belpukur area and 3/4 other unidentified terrorists carried out the attack. The terrorists attacked me with sticks and sharp weapons. Due to their attack, my nose was broken and I was stabbed below the waist. At that time, his motorcycle and office documents along with 20 thousand taka were looted.

At the press conference, Md. Mahfuz Hasan claimed that the terrorists are running a bicycle stand by blocking the road for people to move around in Cheradangi Mela. The administration should take appropriate action in this regard. How can they show such audacity?

He also said that with the help of local public representatives, he was admitted to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital in a seriously injured condition. Where his nose was operated on and the stab wound was stitched. Md. Mahfuz Hasan also expressed concern about the decline of the Cheradangi Fair. He said that once this fair was famous for buying and selling cows, buffaloes and other products. But now it has become a center for obscene dance and drug trafficking in the name of fair processions, puppet dances and circuses. As a result, the young society is being morally and mentally damaged.

He said that a complaint has been filed with the Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station in the incident of the attack. He demanded that the attackers be arrested immediately and strict punishment be ensured.

In this regard, Dr. Ali Akbar Suman (Intand) of Dinajpur Medical College Hospital, a doctor, said that a weapon was smuggled into the nose of Md. Mahfuz Hasan, 3 stitches were applied to the wound caused by the stab wound, and he was released after treatment.

Md. Matiur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station, told this correspondent that legal action will be taken after investigating the complaint.
